Frequently asked questions
Is eclipseClick really free?
Yes! The Free tier includes full eclipse computation, camera control for Canon, Nikon, Sony (beta), and DSUSB, the capture script wizard, and simulation mode. No account required, no time limits. During the beta, all Pro features are also unlocked for 30 days at no cost.
What cameras are supported?
eclipseClick supports Canon cameras via the EDSDK, Nikon cameras via the MAID SDK, Sony cameras via the Camera Remote SDK (beta), and any camera with DSUSB shutter control. Both Free and Pro tiers include full camera support.
Does eclipseClick work offline?
Absolutely. eclipseClick is a desktop app that works fully offline — critical for remote eclipse locations. Pro licenses allow up to 30 days of offline use before re-validation.
How does the 30-day beta trial work?
When you install eclipseClick, all Pro features are automatically unlocked for 30 days — no credit card or account required. After 30 days, Pro features lock and you can continue using the Free tier or purchase a Pro license to keep everything unlocked.
How does Pro licensing work?
Pro is a one-time purchase (not a subscription). Your license activates on up to 3 machines. License validation uses LemonSqueezy and requires an internet connection once every 30 days.
What platforms are supported?
eclipseClick runs on Windows 10+ and macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon and Intel). Camera SDK support varies by platform — Canon EDSDK works on Windows and macOS, Nikon uses the MAID SDK on Windows and libgphoto2 on macOS, and Sony Camera Remote SDK (beta) works on both Windows and macOS.
Why upgrade to Pro?
Pro unlocks multi-camera support (up to 3 cameras simultaneously), lunar limb corrections for precise contact timing, the visual timeline builder, GPS time/position correction, shadow animations on the map, script import/export, research data export, and priority support.
